I have had this product for a couple of months and am definitely in love! I was hesitant to buy a skin polish (scrub) because I figured I could just make one on my own! Of course I never did and when I saw this for half the price at TGMAXX I knew I just had to snag it. It was my first time using a product like this and I am very much happy that I finally caved.
I have sensitive skin and this product is very gentle. The granules are very fine and yet they do a wonderful job at exfoliating. It contains Chia Seeds and Walnut Powder which are the “active” ingredients. The other ingredients are very non-comedogenic and you do not have to fear about using this on acneic skin. I use it a couple of times a week for the past couple of months and still have most of the tube left since only need a very small amount.
I use it in the shower and it easily rinses off. Your skin immediately feels softer and absorbs whatever products you put on it after more effectively. Whenever I am starting to break out I use it and notice a difference in the clarity and texture of my skin the next day. I have also noticed that my hands are soft after using in on my face . I assume it would be a great exfoliator for hands and even your feet.I would definitely recommend this product for anyone with acneic, thick, oily skin.
I have been slowly but surely working my way through the Andalou Naturals masks/peels and have just received my Fruit Enzyme Mask which is part of the Age Defying collection. I have to say it is by far my favorite. I do not intend to try the remaining masks simply because after reviewing their ingredients I do not think that they will be right for my skin type.
So far I have tried the Kombucha Enzyme Peel which was pleasant but did not have a noticeable tingle generally associated with a peel. Next I tried the Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, which is more of a peel than a mask and it tingled on the side of slight discomfort if you had any “active” breakouts.
This last mask is such a treat to wear! It reminds me of a fruit jam! It has a nice tingle to it which reminds me of a peel, especially because of its gel like consistency. It smells fruity but you can also smell the “active” ingredients as well but it is not overwhelming. The Papain enzymes are also very effective.
A little goes a long way, and after using for the mask about 15 minutes and rinsing my face felt silky smooth. I also noticed that active breakout inflammation was reduced. So far I have used it twice in the last week and will continue to do so. I ordered this for less than $10 on Vitacost and considering how long this will last me I consider it a great deal!

A few weeks ago I experimented with creating my own homemade pumpkin mask because of the exfoliating glycolic acid that it contains. I had great results and would definitely recommend trying it out to see how you like using pumpkin on your skin. I loved the dyi mask, but there was one thing that I didn’t like.
It is kind of a silly complaint, but I loved the mask so much that I wanted to use it about twice a week, and that means that I would have to find ways to properly store it to get the most out of every can. Well I came across this product and it had the same key ingredients that I used in mine. I found it for only 9.99 at my local Wegman’s. You can find it online at Vitacost for about the same.
I have previously reviewed another Andalou product (Kombucha Enzyme Exfoliating Peel) and enjoyed it and figured why not try this one? Well it is very different from their peel and also the DIY pumpkin mask. First of all you can feel it working. It does give off a burning tingling sensation and it does have a very strong smell.
At first I was off put by it but now that I am used to it the smell doesn’t bother me as much and I don’t notice the skin sensation as strong either. Now even though it feels like a burning sensation for the first couple of minutes it certainly does not. I even had it over a few active pimples and they were not irritated when I washed it off.
You leave it on for about 10 minutes and then gently rinse off with warm water. Then I towel pat dry and apply their toner (which I will review shortly) and follow with Argan Oil to moisturize. Well I have to say this is definitely the closest thing I have ever tried to what I presume a professional facial level peel would entail.
It left my skin brightened. Any pimple that I had that were healing dried up the next day. I also notice that surface level clogged pores were gone. I tend to have very tiny white bumps on my forehead and they were flattened following the mask. Even though it is a “mask” it is more peel like in that it is a gel and not opaque.Compared to their actual peel it was a lot stronger. I think I will reserve their other peel for spot and overnight treatments from now on.
Overall I love it and would highly recommend this mask. They also have another gel mask that from the ingredients appears to be a more mild mask, no Glycolic Acid just fruit enzymes called the BioActive 8 Berry Fruit Enzyme Mask. I saw this at a health food store and the gel just looked and smelled great, so if you have sensitive skin this might be a better option. Let me know if you have ever tried this or any of their other masks or peels or a similar natural product I would love to hear about your finds and experiences.
Finding a non-toxic yet effective facial peel was quite the challenge! Ok, so maybe it wasn’t so challenging but it certainly is a lot harder when you have such a long list of things that you don’t want in the ingredients list and don’t want to spend a lot on. Ah the story of my life, expensive taste on a tiny budget. I wanted a high quality peel because of my acneic skin to help to slough off dead skin and prevent clogging of the pores. I have tried samples of Juice Beauty peels and like them except for the slightly burning sensation it would give me. When you already have some sensitive pimples on your face the last thing that you want to do is make them burn. It was also on the pricey side ($39), you can always wait for a sale or coupon but if you run out and it’s not on sale you are stuck with paying the MSRP and I didn’t want to add another pricey item to my routine.
I continued to search for a non-toxic effective peel and discovered MyChelle’s Pumpkin Peel, which is also expensive at $28 for a little over an ounce. I felt like this was nearly the same amount for the money as Juice Beauty, plus I read that it also stings so I continued my search. I ended up discovering and purchasing Andalou Naturals Peel for only $9.99 at Wegmans. It is a fantastic price for nearly 2 ounces and I am on the same bottle I started with a few months ago. Now even though it is a steal and is only made from natural ingredients means nothing unless it works.
It is kind of an interesting peel. It is formulated with fruit enzymes to digest away dead skin and Vitamin C to work as an antioxidant for brightening the complexion. There is no tingly warm or burning sensation to my joy. In fact when it almost feels like you didn’t even put anything on, but when I rinsed it off my face felt smoother and I knew that it had worked. I use it about 2x’s a week and I even use it for spot treatment (night or day) when I am having a breakout and it speeds the healing process. I definitely recommend it. Also note that the scent is simple amazing, very refreshing and light. If this product interests you, it is also available on Vitacost for a discounted price. So let me know what you think if you have tried it or if you have any other brands you would like to recommend as well. ENJOY!
